Girls only party at Lasha's last night was pretty funtimes. Kerry and Becky came over as well, and me and Lasha got wasted on like 4 bottles of red wine (two bottles of merlot, one bottle of shiraz and I can't remember what the last one was), and we all pigged out on delicious canned goods that Lasha and Jim made and canned themselves. Oh my god, some of the concoctions were so delectable: they made pickled garlic (I could eat that shit for the rest of my life and be happy as a pig in shit), pineapple salsa, mango and peach salsa, pickled green beans, red pepper jelly... mmm. She also brought out some pate and a goat cheese log with crackers.
Let it be known, however, that pickled goods do not bode well for post-red wine hangovers. Oh god. :(
Also, it always throws me off the way that red wine makes your poop black.
I've basically just been sitting around window-shopping online all day.
Working the Ian Blurton/Huron show tonight at the bar... I'm excited to see Ian Blurton live again. Man, the last time I saw C'mon was one of the best shows I've been to, just because I was right in front of Ian and he cut his hand open from riffing so hard, and blood was pouring out all over his guitar and his jeans, and some got on my face. It was one of my favourite live music moments thus far in my life.
I finally figured out today what I'm going to get Dave for xmas, but I can't say it here because he reads this sometimes. Now I've just got to figure out a few other little things to get him.
I'm super excited because I got a call today from a lady from the Ministry of Labour and APPARENTLY my claim that I put in to get compensation from my former employers (due to the very shady way I got laid off/was basically forced out) went through, and they are sending me a big fat cheque! I'm so stoked, this could NOT have come at a better time. It's been so long (almost 9 months!) that I didn't think it was going to happen. I had actually kind of just forgotten all about it, but it doesn't surprise me that those fuckers paid up because it's a good way to keep my mouth shut. Assholes. I ain't mad atcha - I like money. So yeah, this is a nice way to finally close that chapter in my life; I'm happy that I'm getting compensated for their shady bullshit. Closure.
Dave and I have a shitload of cleaning to do tomorrow before everybody comes over for Movie Night From Hell. We have a pile of dirty dishes in the sink that we haven't been able to do for awhile because our kitchen sink is fucked up, spraying water everywhere when it's turned on and it leaks under the counter into our recycling bins. So it looks like we'll be doing dishes in the bathtub tomorrow! You stay classy, Hamilton.
