I knew almost to the word what you would reply with, and i found the perfect quote from God Emperor that summed up exactly what i thought of your mind set. However i have lost the page number.
So this will lack elquoance and logic that isn't flawed.
Destruction is a form of creation, the planet will be changed to suit the needs of something bigger than itself. As we all will be. And all have been. We are not the same people who hunted for food and migrated round the earth.
We will die. Fact. If we stay small and utterly insignificant then we will be easily killed off by a freak accident. As we can be now. And what are resources except things to be used? Lack of resources breeds progress in finding better more efficient ways of doing the same as we did before. Take food. There is an abundance of food (as far as we are concerned, we can just nip to tesco, and i will ignore hyperbole about starving africans) thus we have not truely looked at better more efficient ways of making it. We still use vast tracts of land for grain, that is only harvested once a year and in all its life been changed to suit our needs once. When we started using Dwarf grain in every corner of the globe, as it didnt fall over and waste itself.
