Sun worshipers and new glass

Back from AC!  What a wonderful time out in PA.  It was great to see everyone, thanks so much to all our friends, old and new who we got to spend time with and who made this con a very memorable weekend.  Vinny has been getting over concrud, but has also been elated at finally being able to sit out front, shirtless, and enjoy the sunny, warm weather that has finally befallen northern Colorado.

I recently broke down and got new glass for the Canon (finally, it's only 5 years overdue) and so picked up a nice tamron 18-200mm zoom and UV filter plus a circular polarizer.  Being it was all sunny and warm, I decided to make a little trek around the property and play with the new glass and just enjoy the general fantastic weather that we're having for the moment.  Lots of the shots came out overexposed, and the landscape ones I think would have done better with the polarizing filter, but all in all, I was happy to get out and play a little bit, and I like the functionality of the focus on the new lens, for sure.

It is a little weird, after it having been fairly brown and ready to catch fire up here for so long, but it's really, really nice to see the whole area from here to the poudre canyon all lush and green.

Also, the excessive rains from the season combined with rapid onset sun seems to have caused the addition of a few new plants that weren't here when we were moving in last year.  A couple of large, orange-red poppies sprouted up out front right along the wood pile, and have been interesting, as they are impossible to miss from anywhere within about half a mile radius because they stand out so strongly compared to the rest of the background.
