The New Alice in Wonderland
...Was not bad.
I actually had a pretty good time with it. I saw it in 2D with my folks the other day because 3D seems to be entirely too distracting and rarely (though occasionally does, I will concede) adds to the experience of the film as it was intended to be. It was visually pretty creative. I'm really happy that Burton and Depp managed not to destroy it outright. And it was a predictable, but very creative story line, managing to incorporate a lot of the original tale while telling an entirely new story, getting newer generations that were not brought up reading the book interested, while giving the old crew a chance to experience something new.
It also managed to keep itself delightfully dark without taking itself too seriously.
All in all, it was a fun flick. If you miss it in the theatres, you really aren't missing that much, and it's not a must see, but my 7 bucks definitely wasn't wasted.
