*grins* yep, I got a grade 3 pass overall (59 in coursework, 63 in exam) for my A210: Approaching Literature. The in-detail results, however, gave me several interesting surprises. Question 1 (looking at an extract from Aphra Behn's "The Rover") got me the following:-
Understanding and Knowledge of Course Texts: Weak (WTF?!?)
Clarity and Structure of Argument: Adequate (can't argue with that)
Focus and Response to Question: Weak (I did ramble a lot)
Use of Evidence/Critical Analysis: Adequate (but the evidence was alright)
Question 5, which was looking at feminism and communication in certain texts:-
Understanding, blah blah blah: Adequate (this shocked me, because I couldn't remember any of the character's names in the exam...)
Clarity: Adequate (Er, no. I was rambling, and I knew it)
Focus: Good (I repeat, I was just rambling)
Use of evidence: Adequate (What evidence? I pretty much recounted the plot!)
and finally, Question 9, I feel, went alright, which was backed up with the detailed results: Good, Good, Adequate, Good. Considering this was a poetry question, the one thing I had considered my weak point... Well, it was a bit of a shock. As far as I can tell, the expected results are back-assward to the *actual* results. Could I have been overconfident? What was up there?
So, looking back, my strong points have been (hunts around for the A210 TMA paper) examining Gothic Realism (such as Frankenstein), compare and contrast in poetry (oh. OK, so maybe poetry isn't my weak point, as I got a 60 for 03, which was poetry too... and, oddly, comparing and contrasting The Rover and Henry V. Weak points are Jane Austen (HAAAAAAAATE!), and Caryl Churchill's "Top Girls" (Which I am ambivalent towards)
I'm trying to identify the core skills I sometimes have trouble with, but hey, maybe I'll post on those, maybe not. Either way, I'm happy I passed, I was worried sick I wouldn't, as my family would know. So, 120 points already under my belt, out of the 360 I need for a basic degree (or 420 if I want an honours, considering how much Lvl 1 crap I have that's mandatory)
And then the PGCE, and then... THE WORRRRRRLD! MUAHAHAAAA!
Or teaching english, whichever works better for me.
