Oh, no, Charity. :( Her optimism being just absolutely crushed has really just done a number on me. Ugh, that poor thing! You've gotten me all upset, Mystery Writer. Though in this fest I suppose that's a good thing. You certainly have a way of writing complex characters and tugging on heartstrings, this is very well done.

Poor Charity and her optimism. And poor Amelia - if she had had any idea of what that one remark of her made Charity do.

A very believable take on both, and how wonderful to see a fic with Amelia!

Thank you so much for this, mystery author! I'm thrilled you chose this pairing and I love this gift. Thank you for taking the time to write for me.

The optimism and normality at the beginning make the ending all the more powerful and distressing. I ached for Charity and I loved the way you wrote both her and Amelia. What a great take on the canon events surrounding Amelia's death. I was practically pawing at the screen when the Carrows said they would keep Amelia safe - what a chilling line.

The last line is wonderful too.

Thanks so much again!

Omg this was sooo so sad. My heart aches for the ill fated couple and I desperately wish they could have survived the war and been happy together. Grown old together quietly, just like Charitys vision.

You did such a brilliant job with this fic. I really like the use of quotes in italics to drive home the point that the Carrows were one of those bad sort who just enjoyed hurting people. The way you wrote this was beautiful and interesting, and also very soft in a way, which heightened the sadness for me.

So much packed into a concise, lovely read!
