Yeah she asked me to repeat myself, but I'll get to that in a second. For those of you that didn't know I asked Christi to marry me while we were in Disney World. It's a pretty good story if you in the mood. If not move on. I'm sure someone else posted something, somewhere, on your friends page that you want to read.
Christi is a hugh Disney fan. If you didn't know that you haven't talked to her for more than 5 minutes. So there could be no better place on earth to ask pop the question. After reserving a table and having a ring stashed away at my parents house for months the big day was finally on us. We went into a restaurant called "Cinderella's Royal Table" located on the upper floors of the iconic castle in the Magic Kingdom. It was an impressive place with stone work and banners and carved wood tables. We got the best table in the house (something you can arrange if you book 4 months early) and we sat in the middle of the big french windows.
While Christi marveled at rest of the part, in particular the Dumbo ride, I headed off to the bath room to give the ring to the manager. I had to pull it out of my pocket and unwrap it from a bunch of kleenex. "Sorry, the box was a bit too conspicious" I mumble. How ghetto. The manager assures me she understands and all the folks in line for the bath room ooh and ahh about the ring and give me encouraging smiles. Becky, the manger, asks me if I know what to do. I only have one line in this play so I'm sure I've got it. "You're going to be a bit nervous so remember it'll be her hand closest to the window." "Thanks," I reply. "I'll remember but I don't get nervous." After all I close million dollar deals, how hard can this be?
Fast forward to the dinner. I order lamb shanks because how cool is it to be in a castle eating mutton?! Another wine wench! What? We're under attack? Bring me my sword. OK back to reality. I get a few bites in and all of the sudden what I'm about to do hits me and I can't eat any more. I pretend to pick at my food for a while till the waitress takes it away and then wait and wait for Chrsti to finish. I'm sure it didn't take as long as it felt. Alright! Time for the big moment. The ring is suppose to come out now.... BUT NO! Here come the dancing mice and the faerie god mother doing a little song for the patrons. Now I'm sure if I wasn't waiting to propose this would have been entertaining. As it was I was ready to head lock the two mice and the old broad and usher them out.
Finally they finish and here comes the covered dish from behind Chrsiti. They put it on the table and pull the cover off. On the plate there's a small glass slipper that's already been engraved with "Will you marry me?", the date and our names and the Ring is inside around a rose bud. Yep Disney does stuff right. This is my part. I get on one knee and the restaurant is now becoming aware of what's happening. There's lots of ohhs and ahhs again. Unbelievable I'm a bit choked up. ME! A TUBBO! So I manage to get out "Will you marry me?" and all she can say is "What did you say?" Well I've used up all my courage so now my confidence is a bit shot "Do you think you'd be willing to marry me?" is the best I can do for a second time. Here's the point she finally says yes.
I put the ring on her finger, we stand, kiss, and bow to the clapping resturant. Pictures are taken by the photographer that I hadn't even noticed was there. Once those are ordered I'll put a few of them up.
So there it is. That's the story. Chirsti has her version too and if she ever posts in LJ (rarer than me posting now a days) you might get to hear that eventually. For now back to the important things in life... PRE-RELEASE THIS WEEKEND! FUTURE SIGHT HERE I COME!
