I have Finally Met My MATCH!!!

Nov 23, 2013 15:09

You know how some people have a competitive streak and then there are those of us that 'play for the fun of it'. I just found out that I have a 'streak' in me....but it's a bizarre one..

I know, I know, Right?? It completely defeats the purpose. But my upstairs Neighbors, the lady with the two boys and the little adorable female dog is JUST AS 'Johnny-on-the-Spot' as I am when it comes to cards, letters, surprises, gifts, and thankfulness.

Let us Review:

1) We have lived in this Condo just over a year. Started on Valentine's Day, I started leaving candy and notes to those in our building, so I started in February (see below) and continued through the year. http://darkwaver.livejournal.com/2013/02/14/

Ok, a holiday came, I filled the basket that is by the door all of us enter or exit and leave a card, poem, or something with the goodies.

2) My neighbor moves in time for the new school year with her two boys.

3) Sept. I am not made of money so we started slowly gathering up a stock pile of Halloween Candies for the month of October and eventually, Halloween. I realize I can't supply the building with candies for the whole month, but the final couple weeks, I would decorate the common area and put out Candy.

4) October 1st, the basket is full of Candy. What was this?! No note either. Hmmmm..

5) By the second week I leave a Note thanking the goodie giver and basically saying "You Rock, But I can take it from here!!"

6) All month I am leaving candy at the door, but we think those boys deserved something special for being so wonderful, so as you may remember, we made them goodie buckets.

7) Going out to refill the common basket for everybody and trick o' treaters, their mum catches me and I discover it had been HER that had been doing it BEFORE ME.

8) That evening, the boys stop by in costume to bring us thank you cards and gifts.

9) ADORABLE!! PRECIOUS!! SWEET!! Who thanks someone for a thank you gift/card?? ::raises hand::
But this time I write in 'from Miles', you know misspellings, bad grammar, he is still learning LOL. But saying how much he loved his treats and that his parents loved theirs too!!

10) Thanksgiving is coming. A few days ago, I left a Thanksgiving card on their welcome mat.

11) Last night I leave a Thanksgiving card with a bar of Swiss Chocolate for our Mail lady (she's great, we love her). She rings and I let her in to sign for a letter and thank me and what is waiting for me.

A card for us and one just for Miles along with the cutest scarecrow that the youngest boy made for us this morning. His head bobs and he has googly eyes and everything. I can't wait to be a mother!

Sticker on the back of Miles card. From the cute little black ball of adorable fur we know as 'Hannah'.

12) I already saw little ____ and told him I loved it and Thank you and I am having to sit on my hands not to send up and Thank you card....for the thank you gift....for the original thanksgiving card.

I learned something about myself... I am usually to be the last "Thanker" so I came to accept and like my role. I usually have the last word when it comes to 'gratitude'. I can't rest until people know how very thankful I am. I don't need or want a reply. The act of giving is what makes me happy. The act of getting a gracious reply makes me squirmy..like how I love giving gifts but I feel weird getting them, especially if someone is right there. But I discovered something else. THERE ARE OTHERS LIKE ME!! I am not a freak!!

Of Course, I am joking when I say 'I don't like being one-uped' or that this is a 'competition'. I think it's funny and fantastic. I always wondered what would happen if I met someone that had a box of stickers, glitter, stamps, paints, and cards for every occasion ready to go and was a 'card-sender' type as well. What happens is the one who stops it (in this case, me) can't stop wondering if they are being rude by not thanking them....for the thank you card.

So...yup... that is the week that was.

miles, personality, animals, wonderful stuff, friends, photos, good times, cooking, holidays
