Is that like 'waking up feelin' like P. Diddy'?? I am still trying to figure that one out.
Also, I would like to make it clear, I am neither 'Fergalicious' nor 'Bootilicious' and I am quite happy about that.
Those two boys that are our wonderful little neighbors in our wee building of these Condos....
like I told and showed you, we spent the month rounding up candies for them, a card for their mother and I baked them cookies a few hours before they woke up Halloween for school.
Anyway, when they were in school, I bumped into their mum and she hugged me and talked about how excited they were and it's just a coincidence I gave them stickers because guess what the boys are too, especially the youngest. She said they were determined to make me a Thank You gift, and I told her "Oh, No, really not necessary.." but she said "Too late..but I have been shown to secrecy and can say no more!!"
(We discovered doing all this how much we are going to enjoy being the Tooth-fairy, Easter bunny, Santa Claus, and Halloween costume maker. Although it was mostly me because of his work schedule, Ro and I so enjoyed the act of doing this. I got delighted being the 'Magic Pumpkin' leaving them "Good Kid" treats. It just cemented our desire to have our own family when health and finances allow... Robert is the man of 1000 voices, I can just hear him reading to our little ones Rowling or Tolkien and doing all the voices. We are going to LOVE filling stockings and doing all the fun gift stuff with our kids when they are young. If it was THAT much fun for a new neighbor/friend that we are just getting to know, it's going to be AMAZING when we have our own!!)
So Halloween, 6 P.M., I was in pain, really beat, had baked 4 dozen cookies for Ro's employee's as a 'Thanks for a great Season' snack. I didn't expect Trick-or-Treaters because there are few kids here and I left so much candy at the front door, I knew a neighbor would get to it before me to hand out. So I sorta jumped when I heard a knock on my door, and Miles barks, but I remember their mother's hint and didn't hear the first alarm bell so I knew it was someone who lived inside the building. The Boys!!. So I shushed Miles and as soon as he hears little _____ say "Hiiiiii MILES!!!!", Miles recognizes the boys sounds and smells and even in costume just sat there watching. He likes kids!!!!
So they are both there and I LITERALLY had to step back and grab my chest. They were scary "Zombie-Ninjas" (Adorable!!) with GREAT face make up and I said "Oh, Honey, you scared me!!" He said sorry, but you could tell they were excited that they had scary costumes. He had his bag closed and I said "Open it up so I can give you some candy!!"
"OOHHhh, Mrs. Dinah, you have given us so much, we came to give YOU something."
I said "Anybody that spooks me, a Halloween fan, automatically gets extra candy!!". I asked where his friend's bag was and he said he left it upstairs and so I basically dumped the rest of the candy into his little bag and said 'There, now there is extra so he can share some with your friend when he gets his bag!!"
They give me our 'thank you' gifts and I told them to be very careful and they said they would. I told them to be safe and if anyone followed them, call me or come to my place until their mom got home. They thanked me and the little one hugged me. (Robert and I can't WAIT to start our family!!!!!!)
OK, Long story, I know, but here are the gifts:
Well, My gifts were RETURNED with thoughtful gifts....I couldn't let that stand. So I got out my box of stationary and whatnot and wrote them a 'Thank you card' but from Miles Point of View, misspellings and all, focusing on his cheesy treats and how "preety Hannah tha dogg z" but also saying his "hew-man's gifs made them smily in the faces", and covertly tossed it up on their mat, with a little bite mark on the corner like he carried it himself.
In closing, I think us telling and writing to be neighborly and ask for help in anyway needed is starting to work because as I started writing this and Ro was walking Miles, one ran and said "Mister Robert, we need some help, can you come up??" and he said of course, he just had to get Miles inside. He went up and was able to help them with a small home issue. Thank Goodness, they know we mean it when we offer to help!!!
Stuck in bed until my back is fixed, I have NO real local friends. Just Ro, and right now, his family. My friends are in California, Arkansas, Vegas, New York, Florida, The Carolinas, Chicago, England, Colorado and everywhere but here. I haven't 'visited' or 'hung out' with friends in like 5 years!!
