He runs up to me, nuzzles, flips UPSIDE DOWN in my lap, getting belly rubs, kissing his nose and he is licking my face and just LOVING on the MOMMY

He is bloody adorable...and he's got 'tude. He's a princvess yet EVERY FEMALE DOG in these condos has a thing for Miles!! He's a little stud. THREE DIFFERENT GIRL DOG OWNERS tease their dog and say "ohhh...here comes your boyfriend, Miles."
Or a neighbor will shout out from afar "HI MILES!! AND MILES' DAD AND MOM!!!"
He is so well liked. He's just a good boy and is everything people love about dogs without any of the stuff they dislike about them. And he is so damn cute. I keep thinking and then asking "Ro, do you think he is happy?! Do you think he knows he is safe and will be with us for the rest of his life, and if so, do you think he is happy?!"
Robert looks at me like I'm a nutter and says "you know he is the most spoiled and loved pup in Maryland."
My mother ever says "I wish I was your dog, the way you spoil him.." But he earns it!! I just wish I could know what he is thinking and if he knows he's at his forever home and noone is ever going to hurt him again. That we rescued him, love him, and will never let him go. I wonder if he knows that and if so, if he is happy about being ours.
We couldn't for three or three and a half years and then we moved here around Halloween and rescued Miles December 1st. I am never letting him go. We don't care is we have to live in a less nice place, as long as we can always have him with us. We ADORE this little guy, it's not even funny. Somedays, he is the only thing that makes me laugh or smile...
Not sure when I'll ever get to be in a place where I can have a pet. Money is really tight, even more so now that I'm unemployed. No luck finding a job yet so...
Anyway, glad you have such a diva puppy who makes you laugh and smile. :)
Baby Girl, I COMPLETELY understand. I won't lay out here in a public place how I got lucky enough to be able to have him, but my soul needed him. I have been in such physical pain and will be in more after this last surgery on my back so he is my one joy and only smile some days. Like, i can't cry in pain, because it upsets him, so I soldier through it and tell him "Mommy is okay ...everything is okay, Miles..." and I think I actually feel a little better when I fib to make him less anxious. He is the best little thing that's happened since Ro and I got engaged. I knew Miles was the one to rescue when I started to cry looking at him. I just said "that's our dog..he's the one.. he's our little guy" and tears were streaming down my face, I loved him so much that first day... after a week, he was really happy. He hadn't had treats, toys, sweaters, sleeping in the bed, or people loving on him like we did, so he was happy. I mean, damn, I MAKE him Doggie-Safe Ice-cream every month. He is loved, for sure. Spoiled, maybe, but worth every bit of it.
Thanks me too. Every now and then we look at each other and wonder where he'd be if we hadn't rescued him and the very idea makes us sick. I know he sure as hell wouldn't be snoring under warm blankets with a content full belly and laying against my leg sleeping happy right now. We got him Dec 1st, and when the snow started to come, I could have cried and I would say "what if Miles was out in this?!?" and I also cry for all the ones that are out there and need a safe home and loving humans. I can't believe people treat animals!!
Miles is a little stud around here, meaning, like three girl dogs have claimed Miles as their Boyfriend (the little Minx) but one is a Bulldog/Rottweiler/every mean dog mix and she is muscular and LOOKS scary but is sweet as can be, especially on Miles. Years ago, her Humans saw a news story about a raid on a fighting dog ring and from newborns to full grown, they interbred 'mean dogs' and taught them to me mean and fight and the new report said it's too late for the adults, they are viscous and treated cruelly, but they also had puppies, but a few weeks, to a few months that they hadn't started to be mean to yet, so they were a blank canvas. So Claudia's Humans called and said 'are you letting people adopt the puppies from the raid?!' and they said "absolutely, to good loving homes, but your the 80th call and fist come, first pick".
So they went RIGHT THEN and got Claudia at like 5 or 6 weeks and gave her love and affection, so she LOOKS like a terror, but is a sweetheart and when Miles comes she kisses up on him and they touch noses and roll around. SO cute, because he's half her size.
But anyway, I have never met a "bad" animal, just bad people.
Or a neighbor will shout out from afar "HI MILES!! AND MILES' DAD AND MOM!!!"

Totally with you on the "no bad pets, just bad people".
