Panera's awesome. Good sandwiches + free wireless = 1 afternoon successfully wasted/passed. It's corner bakery without the waited service, but food's about the same. I'm hungry.
I really like having a laptop, with wireless, so I'm not tied down to a desk. I really like being portable, being able to work anywhere.
Xanga doesn't work on Panera wireless only because xanga's apparently got some adult/mature content, but livejournal doesn't. Who knew?
I miss writing. I miss writing long rambling diatribes that go nowhere. But I guess brainstorming little nothings makes up for it.
There are lots of people who can really write well, and they all do it differently. I've been (I'm still hungry) reading Azar Nafisi's Reading Lolita in Tehran, which is a great memoir about literature, Iran and the religious state, and women's rights. I recommend it to anyone. It's just fresh and not hung up on fancy speech. (The sunsets are more beautiful when there's cotton-candy clouds with light pink bottoms in the sky) I think that eventually, I want to have my casual writing voice be the same as my speaking voice, which should be natural, clear, and not boring.
Stephie said that there are lots of people who can't write well at all. I think they just either can't think clearly or can't express themselves clearly. Not a diss, just a comment.
People are somewhat more physically attractive outside of Caltech (ducks!) I think it's because they do their hair, wear makeup, take showers (ducks), and otherwise really try hard to look good. Whereas Caltech students try their hardest not to try hard. I like people who don't try at all and still look better than me, though, since I look pretty good, I think. :) just kidding.
I think I could work anywhere I wanted to, as long as I had music. If I could take music with me to the GREs I'd ace them. But I can't, so I have to study. Wah. >_<
I'm hungry. I'm going to buy a sammich. 4:40 PM
4:44 PM - That was some fast service.
4:48 PM - This food is good. Half sammich, half soup and a baguette. Very cheesy. Yum.
4:56 PM - I'm full. I think I need a drink to wash it down. Oh, and I also just think I volunteered to lead publicity for interhovse. If you're in the LA area, it's Jan. 13th, starting at 10pm on into the night. It'll make awesome look like socially awkward.
5:02 PM - OK, I got distracted, by Interhovse, then the Yale Shades, then Boundless, then Fantasy Basketball. There's way too much to do on the Internet. I'm stopping this one.
