I want to run in the rain, but there's none left in California. The sprinkler systems go off to about knee height.
I'm not going to be home until August 20th, since I'm doing research for the Man, i.e. Caltech. I miss a lot of people in Maryland so much, and I know it takes waaaay too long for me to make close friends in any new situation. So it's going to be another uncertain summer.
Now I can tell when a long-distance relationship fades. It's when you stop talking about the person to other people. The oral tradition of telling stories has died long ago, buried under scribes, books, TV, and the internet. But the telling, the spoken revelation, is like driving through the neighborhood you were born in. It brings back the friend, as if he was right there and you were introducing him to someone else.
Damn, I'm so proud of Kevin. I should call him.
