Gah, it's raining tonight. I've grown to hate the rain in California - I used to love it back home, and then I started to realize that the Sun is, pound for pound, more pleasant to be under. ANDDDD I just realized I have a physics pre-lab and write up due that I haven't started. And a paper I've yet to work revisions on. All due by 5PM today/yesterday/last Sunday. I am so OMFG screwed. !!! Pass/fail may have gone too far.
Learning a new skill takes a lot of heart, and free time. I'm talking about beat-boxing/vocal percussion here. Right now I beat box in the shower, and before class if I'm inclined. But I need more practice - I can puff out a snare that's about a fifth of what
this guy does.
Sometimes, from my open window, I can hear Tim (in the next dorm, about 30 m away) laying down a beat. That man is crazy - he talks and sings and does everything with his mouth wide open. Just walking around, being a human drum set for every idle moment of the day... It's unreal.
So a lot of beat boxing has to do with breath control. A lot of air has to come out explosively or else it won't make a sound enough like a snare or kick drum. For that to work, the lips have to get into position, puckering them a bit. From there on it's mostly about diaphragm muscles - like working out . Once the air is out, the trick is to make it a tight, quick sound, by closing the lips right after.
What a piss-poor explanation. I need to get back to work.
And look.. it's the Larrymobile! Does this image thing work?
