Soap

What better first post of the new year than a borderline hippie rant? Well, it's not really a rant, it's more like an e-mail I got from my aunt about antibacterial soap:

I recently took a tour of SF Wastewater System and found out that they really discourage using antibacterial soap. Reason? It contains Triclosan which is a form of pesticide which cannot be broken down in the Wastewater treatment. Consequently, it gets back into farmland through treated
water, and found to end up in the food we eat!

Not only that, it's creating a "superbacteria" which is becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics.

They say washing your hand with plain old soap for 20 seconds (while keeping the water off) is just as effective as anti-bacterial soap for killing germs. If you leave the water running for even 20 sec., thousands of gallons of water is wasted a year.
