August 15 - Slytherin Dungeons

Terence watched closely as she stirred the potion; one turn clockwise and three turns counterclockwise with a two-second pause in between. She'd done well, seemed to understand the concepts, but lacked confidence. He saw that a lot in her. He wasn't too surprised ( Read more... )

Ginny was sitting back up on the worktable, fidgeting. "Everything all right?" she asked, searching both of their faces as they came out of the potions cupboard.

"Of course, Princess, nothing to worry about. We were simply choosing ingredients for his project." He moved toward her and smiled softly at her. "You worry too much." He looked back at Nott. "What are you going to attempt first?"

"All is indeed well. I thought I'd just throw a bunch of things into a cauldron and then feed whatever turns out to some first years." He was, of course, kidding.

Ginny covered her mouth with her hand and giggled. "You have to pay them in product if it turns out to be something cool," she said, still giggling. She smiled at Terence. "I know I worry too much. Charlie tells me all the time."

Terence smiled back. "And he's right, of course. I do understand, though." He reached out and patted her hand softly. "No testing on first years. They're much too young. Third years, perhaps..."

"Pay them?" Theo said, looking aghast, though his eyes still sparkled. "It would be so much easier to simply threaten them. Second years, then."

Ginny giggled again, unable to help it. She was still a bit too nervous and it had to show itself someway. "I actually have a list of people that you can start with... that is if the effects are less than desirable. Good effects, then second years are fine. The first years will be easier to threaten, though."

"I'm fairly good with threats. I could get fifth years if necessary." His tone was still teasing. A certain former theif could tell tales that Theodore never wanted heard in the walls of this castle. "Do tell me the list, though. I can always use target practice."

"I doubt you'd ever be around the people that I want finished. And I think that there's probably a long list of people that want them dead aside from me. Greyback and Lestrange would be up at the top of that list. Now if you're just wanting to hex people that are more easily accessable... you can start with Slughorn, perhaps look up Cho Chang, and if you're bored, I'd not be adverse to you hexing Oliver Wood... of course, that one depends on my mood at the moment."

Terence heard the anger in her voice as she named Greyback and Lestrange. He'd like to get his hands on Lestrange himself. But he was glad to see that she made light of it afterward. "I don't know, you and Wood seemed awfully cozy the other night at the restaurant. I saw you talking to him in the hallway." He grinned wider as she blushed and grumbled 'shut up.'

Theo thought admitting that part of him was itching to duel with or learn from Bella would not be wise. He knew she was deadly, but he was intrigued by her the way some birds were fascinated with serpents. "Slughorn is my so-called Head of House. Hexing Chang would be about as sporting as challenging Longbottom to Quidditch. As to the other two, I'd really rather not draw their attention to myself."

"That leaves Oliver, then. He looks good with his hair singed, so have fun." She stuck her tongue out at Terence. "We're getting on all right, I'm only joking. And Neville's not completely horrible on a broom... he's just not great at Quidditch." She hated to hear anyone say anything bad about Neville... even if it wasn't meant badly, she didn't like him picked on and she was very careful not to show that it bothered her. Nott was just now starting to seem to not actively hate her. She didn't want to fuck that up and she wouldn't unless he was openly nasty about Neville.

"Your brother would have something to say about anyone hexing Wood," Terence said. "I know you're getting on well. I am glad. No hexing today. It is Friday, you both get the weekend off. Save your hexing for during the week."

Theo yanked a cauldron off of a hook and took it to the sink in the corner to fill it halfway with water. "I have no great plans for the weekend," dammit "so I have plenty of time for hexing. I'll not attack the Quidditch player, though. He's fairly fit."

Terence opened his mouth and Ginny glared at him, drawing her wand. "I swear to God, if you agree with him that Oliver Wood is fit, I'll hex your lips right off your face. Then Charlie will be pissed all weekend and you'll be the one that has to listen to it." She lowered her wand and kicked her feet against the worktable as she swung her legs. "He's not that great."

Terence had real difficulty covering his amusment. He wasn't sure he pulled it off. "I was going to say that I do not find him attractive in the least," he lied. "He is an ogre. And if he were not, he would have nothing on you, love." He was sure from the look she gave him that she knew he was lying as well, but at least it got a smile from her.

"So no plans this weekend? We should have lunch again."
