It's been more than a month since I wrote anything here, huzzah!
So we went into Highpoint Shopping Centre in Melbourne today. I didn't really plan on buying anything because there wasn't really anything I wanted at the current time, but I wouldn't have minded getting a book in the New Jedi Order series, having received several audiobooks of it for christmas and having a gap between two of them. So we went to Dymock's and Angus & Robertson, but neither of them had it, which was somewhat surprising... the choice in the two stores really wasn't much better than the choice at the stores in Ballarat. So we went off to look at the game stores, and completely as expected there were no games out that I was willing to spend money on. Closest to that would be Geist, Pokémon XD, or Mario & Luigi DS but none of them I care enough about at the current time, so we didn't worry too much about them. Then my brother wanted us to see if anywhere had any DnD sourcebooks.
The only place in Highpoint that matches that sort of description is Games Workshop. But completely as expected they only had Warhammer stuff, what with being the company that makes it and all ._. Picked up a magazine, and they told us to try Borders, which was another book store we hadn't gone to before, due to having never heard of the place and it being right down the end of the centre.
Bad reasoning.
THE PLACE WAS HUGE. IT HAD TWO FLOORS, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.
They even had
a whole row
of actual manga-style books
not those crappy thin comic-shaped children's books that pretend to be manga
the short thick stuff like Battle Royale and so forth
you barely get any of the comic-ones in Ballarat, let alone any of that type
not that I wanted any anyway, just registering my surprise at it
I got
the Star Wars book I wanted
Belgarath the Sorceror
Polgara the Sorceress
The Redemption of Althalus
and a Tom Holt book
for a bit under $100
unfortunately they were not hard-cover ones ._. oh well
And then my brother completely eclipsed my costs with only two DnD books and a Discworld artbook >_> crazy expensive DnD books.
