That D&D 0wnz j00. A group of people get together in their free time to explore their imaginations in a full fantasy realm. They have an imaginary physical world that the Dungeon Master describes, sometimes with great depth and detail. They also have a world with different boundaries, as to what is real and what isn't. They are also immersed in a full social environment, playing in someone else's shoes.
Of course, they're usually metal boots of an old character that got turned into a death knight. And usually you're slaying masses of life at a time, sometimes to an almost grotesque, cartooney state. And yeah, you may abuse women. It happened back then, c'mon. It's not like some of our most famous icons don't abuse women, now.
And anyways, that's the point of roleplaying. You can't do that shit in real life. If you ever get a totally crazy idea, you can pull it off in a roleplaying session. Ever want to be a cyborg ninja and raid a modern Japanese company's skyscraper? C'mon, think about it. It's just like classic ninja movies and stories. The skyscraper is the castle, the businessmen are samurai, and you're a ninja. Therefore, you have to kill shit. Yeah, there will probably be more lasers, flamethrowers, thermal detonators, automatic weapons, Japanese guys in bad sunglasses, and shattering glass, but still the same idea. So anyway...yeah, I'd want to be a cyborg ninja and do that too.
Point is, lots of roleplayers obviously aren't all that concerned with being cool. At least they don't need holes that you could shove a football through in their god damn ears.
