a helpful tip and a story.

This goes out to those of you as a friendly reminder. Please for the love of god watch your debit or credit card transactions carefully. You never know when you could gain a deposit. Also don't be afraid to stick up for yourself when you feel that you've been wronged. A couple of weeks ago I had the ability to order from one of my favorite restaurant delivery services. The final total for that bill was 40.14. Naturally I used my card for this purchase. The food came. The charge was paid and I thought that it was the end of it. This last friday night, I thought that I might use them again. I used the same card for this delivery and everything was all right. The total was different but the payment information was the same. However, there was a mix up and my original charge was thought not to have been paid. Apparently my first charge slip from two weeks ago had been accidentally tagged with someone else's name. The company thought that they hadn't gotten my payment so proceeded to double bill me. Fortunately this didn't cause an overdraft. Yet I knew that the original charge had gone through. I called them. At first they tried to tell me that they hadn't made an error. I ended up having to call them back twice more in order to rectify the situation. They were very nice about it and the credit has been reapplied back to my account. Still, I wonder how many of us don't keep as much track of these transactions as we should. Be careful and monitor these things closely.
