Let's get this off my chest: damn I suck at updating this thing!
I guess not having a camera, therefore no pictures to show, makes it less interesting for me to post here, but Hell, I promised an update Friday, so here it is. First things first, things I promised to mention in here:
- Linda Linda
Ok. So last week, we recieved a weird phone call. The feeling was really creepy and woman speaker asked to speak with Mat in a voice tone that would usually be used by nurses or police to break a bad news to people. I thought it might be something wrong with his mom or granny, so I looked for him throughout the whole place to hand him the receiver. Turns out it was a usual customer named Linda (whom we still ignore who it really was) who wanted to ask him out! He replied he was pleased with her having called him to ask, but that he already was seeing someone (which is true). When he said her name was Linda after hanging up, I had the Blue Hearts' Rinda Rinda playing in repeat in my head. The manager asked him if he knew of the song named Linda by Michel Louvain (which is a really old (over 60) kitch singer my grandma likes). And Vince and I kept laughing in Mat's back and making jokes, but we have a lot of inside jokes together, anyways, with all the time a week we spend telling each other about random stuff, and random songs and quotes and all.
Nath (our manager) promised to prank call Mat during her vacation (next week, she got the whole of August off, lucky bastard!) so that we could all laugh more. Mat is a nice guy, but he's soooooooo retarded at times, so he's the laughing stock of the staff and customers.
Talking about our new sandwich line to a customer, he said "If you can't swallow a big one, you can try a smaller one" and it made Nath and Vince laugh so hard for the past 2 days, they keep making sexual double-entendre out of it... Big gossip babies! :P
-Australian tattoo artist
So, there was this customer who came in last week, she took a coffee and an internet access time card and as fastes would have it, Vince ended up admitting that she struck his fancy and that if he didn't know she was leaving to go back to downunderland so soon, he might have wanted to actually develop some kind of a relationship with her. She's shorter than me and a bit modern hippy looking (dreads, scarf on the head, loose organic clothing, etc) and it turns out she's a tattoo artist from Australia. Although there's a bit of a language barrier between the two of them (Vince's English skills are better than the other staff members, but far far behing mine and Orazio (owner)'s ), he managed to understand about half of what she said. Her accent's not so thick for an Aussie, so I guess she's not from the middle of the island...
She came back Tuesday this week, so he asked her if she wanted to do something Thursday night, she seemed interested. He told me he found it fishy that her name was Sam Jones and I assured him it's a pretty normal name for an Aussie, as Jones is the most common name there, as Smith or Lee would be in the USA, or Lussier in my hometown or Tremblay in the Saguenay/Lac-St-Jean area. I teased him about it yesterday, and as far as I know, all day, he still hadn't found what he wanted to do with her aside getting in her pants. Turns out, she never showed up... Vince got stood up, which means I earn points for having showed up on our "pseudo-dates" from before we had an argument.
-Job thingy
I desperately need to find a new job for September. Why September? Because it's pretty much the limit of my wit and it's also when everyone's holidays will be over. Why desperately? I have bills piling up and rising interests to try to rid myself of due to my losing my 15$/hour two years ago and not looking more intently for a potent high paying job and remaining secluded in this low pay job that I still rather enjoy, I like the team, but the creditors don't have my patience and well, I'd like to be able to do more with my life than work and pay off debts. My son is starting Grade 1 this fall, and we really enjoyed our day together at the fair last Sunday
-Dress concept[ I need your opinions on this, pretties, pleaaaaaaaaaase!]
Since Vince's band is called "The Captain's Map Leads to A Vortex" and that they used to have this sailor hats and all
Since I want to be originally dressed for the show (Vince's band Trough Thorns opens, then a guest band, then Vince's more experimental band The Captain's Mad Leads to a Vortex) that will be on August 7th (2 days before my bday) I came up with this design idea... At first, I wanted to make a slightly sexier, deeper neckline, I couldn 't find a more decent workable pattern than this one from the Volume 17 of the Japanese Gothic & Lolita Bible. Excuse the lame Paint-over-original job, I don't have decent edition software on the job's comp...
The idea is that it is a sailor dress, mixed with a split personality Alice-in-Wonderland kind of theme. I'd put a print à la h.Naoto/Putumayo on the black side of the dress, with motifs and lettering.
What do you think???
Also, here's a quick review of my weekend:
Friday: Went to the Fantasia festival, saw a korean movie called My Dear Enemy. It was boooooooooring... Meet onee-chan and her boyfriend in the subway, turns out they went to see the same movie! I wanted to go see Rough Cut on Saturday, because there's So Ji-sub in it (Cha Moon-hyuk in the drama I'm Sorry, I Love You), but I had already promised Bureau-oppa to spend the day shopping for tshirts with him.
So Saturday morning came, I was up at 7am, could no longer sleep, washed 2 loads of clothing and whites, dusted, swept the floor, took naps. I waited for him to get up since he had finished working at midnight. Around noon, he gets on MSn, then he calls me and we set up a metting place. Walked through the whole of Centre Eaton, stopped at a Japanese food stall to eat (we both ate yakisoba+beef) without finding anything, then when we were looking for the subway exit, we found this little stall and he found 2 shirts he liked; shopping mission = success.
He had won an Ipod at his job, so we dropped by Future Shop to buy a cover for it so it wouldnt get damaged. Browsed through all of the possible models for like 15 minutes then he picked one, paid and we left.
We went bowling at a place my manager had told me about. It was really fun, just the two of us and the alley and damn it if both of us ever sucked so badly at bowling. Towards the 2 last shots of the last round out of three, we found out the issue was just that the tiny balls (It was a mini-bowling place, not the regular 10-pounds large ones) were overly coated in wax, so we wiped them and we had so much better scores then! Too bad our alley rental was over. Since they charged fees for Interac, I paid cash for both of us and then, JF paid for supper + cinema.
We went to eat at Pizza Donini, near his place, on Plaza St-Hubert. I ordered a Coquille St-Jacques and it came with the worst tasting rosée sauce spaghettis EVER. I missed Maaku-san's!
While we were sitting, we witness Felipe Massa's epic fail on the news and then, I saw Vince and a tribe of dark dressed metalheads (all shorter than him, for some reason. And yet, he's not THAT tall, he's just 5'11"!) and I could not refrain from commenting out loud "What's Unicorn doing here?!?". I learned on Monday that it was his guitarist's housewarming party, since he just moved to a new place this month and it was a couple corners away.
Jf took me to Cinema Beaubien to see OSS 117 : Rio ne Répond Plus. It was funny, as expected from a Jean Dujardin movie. A bit too cliché for my liking maybe, it's like a French version of Austin Powers, but without the sci-fi bits, so I guess it's more of a pastiche of The Saint / James Bond / Mission : Impossible-ish type movies. Since I had paid for bowling, JF insisted on paying for both dinner and movie theater, and since my horoscope had to me to let other people pick up the tab and enjoy it, that's just what I did, although I tend to favor the equal sharing of outing fees with guys, usually....
Sunday, I went to St-Hyacinthe. I promised my son I would take him to the fair. So when I got to St-Hyacinthe, after delays in the bus shcedules due to pouring rain, I crossed the city on foot and wound up finding a note on the table that they had waited for me, but they were now at the fairgrounds with Nick. So I showered because it was so damn humid I'd get sick and I ate because I hadn't eaten all day. In the long run, it was a good thing that the rain made me give up my idea of going in lolita because although the rain was on and off all day, it was really humid and my dress woukld have been ruined...
We did all the rides there were, except he waited for me on the steps of the Pirate Ship because he said it was going to high for his liking (and yet, he begged me to go in the Ferris Wheel) and a couple other rides that were too gutfeelings heavy for the humidity we had to stand (and my stomach felt really weak that day). I ate a Beaver's Tail (a kind of waffle/crêpe mix pastry) with Nutella spread, it was yummy. Nick tasted Pogos for the first time in his young life and we bought some candyfloss that we didn't manage to finish eating, because after the fries, cheese burger and pogo, we were full...
Nick was a total sweetheart all day and he was very obedient and patient and it was nice. Too bad the band I wanted to see (a local covers-only band named Karma, I'm a long running fan of theirs, they played my prom night, many St-Jean-Baptiste Nationa Holiday shows and all) played only on Thursdays, this year ; _ ;
See you, take care!
Oh, and Don't forget to be awesome!! (yup, yup, the VlogBrothers are brainwashing me!)
