Various things...

Hi everyone!

Moving went great except the washing machine broke in the stairwell and almost crushed my roomie to death, but luckily, the next door's Civic-driver-looking dude came to the rescue when he heard the huge thump. Dad fixed the machine and it works fine. We had some trouble getting the fridge's bottom part to get cold, but now it also woks fine and all our boxes are uncrated and unpacked and I just have to sew the drapes for the windows, the futon matress cover and fix the ugly table set. Jo was supposed to bring in his 2nd futon, but I don't think we'll have enough room for that...

I would like to wish a happy birthday to:

So, I'm all moved in, finally got the net and the phone landline

At first, we were supposed to be connected with Bell for a couple months then switch to Vidéotron because I was told that they couldn't give us a number, we had to get one from Bell, then switched. So Monday, although it was a statutory holiday, the Bell install guy came over and left a message that the install was completed in my mailbox.

I was moving stuff from my dad's place to my new place that day, so it was all supposed to be done when I came up. JoD and I tried all three outlets in the appartment and the ground was dead on all of them, no tonality was heard. Tried to call bell to complain, my cellphone wouldn't let me, so I went over to my sister's place and loaned her phoneline. I only managed to get a service call tech on the line, and he said I needed to talk to customer service to get thigs solved and they were closed due to the holiday. Waited until the next day, called again from a toll booth, but it was like 8h30pm and they closed at 7pm! Just my luck!
I was pissed. On wednesday, I had to pay a 2nd 50¢ to reach them and it took 45 minutes out of my lunch hour, but I got it solved finally. The kinda argued when I said I wanted to get disconnected, but I just couldn't admit that Jo decided that he'd reactivate his Vidéotron account instead of arguing with Bell to get things fixed...

So yesterday, the Vidéotron guy came over, Jo said he was noisy as hell (Jo had had a Strip Poker party here, the previous night and he drank a whole lot too much booze, he didn't throw up, but he was in a pretty pityful state when I left for my job, after getting him in his bed). But I got here and all was working to perfection, dunno why the Bell dude couldn't do what the Vidéotron guy did, but now it all works fine... yeah! :D

So, yesterday, I had a feeling things wouldn't be going my way:
I got the bus in time, but when I got to the St-Michel station, the metro's doors closed right under my nose, arrived at my job at like 8h10am, my boss wasn't there and there was a huge lineup of kids in front of the store, so I quickly opened up and got my cash in the register and all...
Closed at noon for the lunch break, the cafeteria's stuff looked uninteresting, took a sandwich at the students café and went to shop at the dollarstore for some much needed appartment stuff and came back. Opened the store and a couple minutes later my boss shows up. All went well during the afternoon until the time came to close the store and count the register. She fired me. Said it was the first time in 28 years she has to fire someone... I thought to myself "oh, great, you really needed to tell me to make me feel even worse !" and I was all my usual "I understand" self, because you see, I'm really a tend the other cheek kind of person when it comes down to my own personal life business, but I can fight to death when it concerns others...

So she gave me my last paycheck, the 4% one and this week's pay will come by the mail with the unemployment paperwork... I walked away and then realized I'd forgotten my purchases and to give back my store key (she didn't ask either) and she seemed a bit pissed that I disturbed her, but she was glad I gave it back... Think of all the shit I could have done with a store key and the alarm system's password! But no, vengeance is not my thing... I'm too much of a good person, I guess...

So, that was my last day.

Emmie, did the Check go through this once?
If so, can you send the AP OP to my new address, please? Thanks a bunch!
