Zeitgeist: Reputation economics on social media

Dec 03, 2010 01:45

Neal Rauhauser AKA StrandedWind on Twitter, has induced me to register on two sites that measure people's reputation economics on social media, particularly Twitter. The first is Klout. In addition to considering Twitter, it also takes Facebook into account. My Facebook account greatly added to my Klout score, which got as high as 42, but is now 35.

The second is Empire Avenue, which not only takes into consideration Twitter and Facebook, but also Flickr and YouTube, where I also have accounts. Not only does Empire Avenue measure one's clout on social media, it turns it into an economic game. Users can buy shares in each other and other Twitter users. In one day, my stock has risen from 10 to 17.80. W00T!
