U-M and MSU researchers well represented at public health association meeting By Vince Lamb, Detroit Science News Examiner
Scores of faculty and students from the University of Michigan School of Public Heath (UMSPH) joined approximately 13,000 other participants in the
2010 American Association of Public Health Annual Meeting in Denver this past week. There, the researchers from presented
72 talks, symposia, and poster sessions on a diverse range of topics ranging from the use of social media in public health to asthma, fast food, gender, and car accidents. More than 4000 studies were presented at the conference.
In addition to presenting their research, the participants joined in honoring Marc Zimmerman, chair of Health Behavior and Health Education at UMSPH. Zimmerman was among the winners of the 2010 Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) Distinguished Fellow Award.
Also, at least one researcher from Michigan State University also attended the conference and presented his findings.
