Michigan’s unemployment rate edged down just one-tenth of a percentage point in July to 13.1% as more state residents left the workforce.
The state’s roughly 4.8-million-person workforce declined by 18,000 in July, a sign that many people were still unable to find jobs and were giving up, either going back to school or dropping out in some other way.

The good news is that factory jobs appear to be on the rebound after a brutal recession.
U1 dropping because people are leaving the work force--sounds familiar, doesn't it? At least those who are going to school are keeping me employed.
