You know, it hasn't hit me until a few minutes ago.
I got an envelope at my desk. I opened it up and there's the card. I'm now a card-carrying member of the
IGDA. While that isn't all that big a deal in itself, it kind of made me smile to myself and think that I really did achieve my goal of working in the video game industry. Almost by accident. The sheer amount of choices I had to make (including those I made without realizing), and the highly improbable nature of... well... almost everything in my life... it's all... sort of surprising to me.
I'm almost certain there are an infinite amount of pissed off Jay's out there in parallel universes working at some fast food restaurant in Montreal, completely fucking miserable and somehow this particular Jay lucked out.
It just took this card for me to realize it.
