If Pixar Were a Man I'd Marry Him O_O

Today I watched Ratatouille with my family.

All I have to say is this: there is some unnameable quality in that film that hearkens back to the Disney films of old. What is that quality exactly? I don't know. I don't think I ever will. I can't even bloody type what I'm trying to say.

The film is exceptional. Scarily so. I simply cannot understand nor explain how a CG films is capable of (for lack of a better word), returning to its roots. I really believe that of all the Pixar films, Ratatouille stands alone as an example of what Disney could have done with technology.

There is no heavy handed shuffling of blatant ideals; the film seems to relax and bask in the glory of its setting, allowing the dialog and cinematography to subtlety convey the message of the film. The dialog is not a simple mean to convey what images could not, rather, the movie shapes itself around the dialog. The characters are endearing, the score further compliments the story, and the story itself is told so well the audience swallows what would have been a ridiculous plot (in the hands of lesser film makers) without qualm.

Also, the films shows that its makers are quite capable of satire without the obligatory animated character meant to parallel an existing person. In other words, the film does not tie itself down with jokes related to current affairs or persons. Pixar creates a world that stands alone in its won right and draw the audience into its own fully functional universe.

The last film that gave me this good of a in-theater-vibe was the Hunchback (and probably Toy Story 1). Kudos to you Pixar. Disney is probably dancing right now.

Check your reality at the door please; you'll be getting a new one soon :3

Did I mention I got to see the Wall-E teaser? GAH PIXAR. Don't get heavy handed on us ala Happy Feet. Just keep that Ratatouille vibe.
