Weathers changing out here meaning it's time for the Tall ships to come into port here in Chicago. I don't know if I ever mentioned this here but I adore the old fashioned sailing ships. I know you're going to ask why that is, and it seems a bit odd that a girl that actively likes Samurais and scifi/fantasy would like old wooden tall ships, but I do. I think it's because there's something romantic about them, and the fact that they have to be made by hand versus being massed produced and made of iron. Newer ships don't have the same sleek texture and, while yes they do rot, the same sounds that the wood ships made. You can't power them by motor and you kind of have to trust the winds to guide you and help you steer. Not sure if it's wrong of me to get so excited over something that's old and made of wood, but I am. I think it's a case of me being a historic buff and like seeing these massive boats come sailing in like they did years before into the lake and down the river when it was still a port for supplies.
Sadly it's the start of the semester which means I work on the days that they are here. Which is deepressing. So I can't go and check them out. I really wanted to see the Red witch as it looked awesome. it's a scooner I think, though I'm not sure I'll have to double check. Anyway my sadness is that I have yet to get to check out these pretties in person so I guess I'll just have to day dream about seeing them. Maybe next year. Ha ha...I hope.
Hoping to check out some change in leaves some time this fall, should be fun. I'm ready for a change in the weather just a tad. Though I hate the fact that I get cold so easily.
