Secrets of the Demon by Diana Rowland

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This series just keeps getting better. I'm usually not interested in books with too much of a murder/mystery going on but this has just enough to make it interesting without irritating me.
The attacks (& the mystery of who is causing them & why) plays a bigger part of this book than in the previous two. This book does continue stringing along some of the side mysteries of the who and why of several of the main characters but it's not the point of the book. I liked this one a lot more than the previous two because it felt much more streamlined. The author & main character are not dragging us off on tangent thoughts and worries as much anymore. They are there but are now complimentary instead of distractions.
In the previous two books I was more intrigued by the mysteries of the other characters instead of the actual murder/mystery that was supposed to be moving the plot forward. Part of what made it not drag as much for me was that the murders are not quite as creepy this time (if that's what you love the most - sorry). Its not about OMG this is big evil horribleness we must stop; this time they are just mysterious.
Plus happiness!!! A theory I had about Ryan was right =) I doubt it will come as a surprise to any observant reader but it's still fun to have the answer (well, sorta...we have the what but not the why yet).
Overall, an quick, enjoyable read that was superior to the previous books. If you made it through the first two but were debating about whether or not to keep reading this series - do it.
