From Gamespot... "Pick five games--the only five you can take with you. If you got stuck on a desert island (or some other location that would be difficult to leave), these are perhaps the last five games you'd ever need to play. lol! No worries. But you know how us computer junkies are.

Now, if instead of 5 computer games it was 5 board games... I'll agree with you on cards, chess, and Monopoly. For the other two - Axis & Allies, and Shogun.

I've played Axis and Allies a couple of times, but I never really go into it--may have been just lack of exposure. Not familiar with Shogun--tell me more.

Shogun was 1 of 3 out of the original strategy game series that produced Axis and Allies. Axis and Allies was the most successful of the three. The least successful, fortres america, I don't think anyone plays anymore.

I wanted Shogun bad ... I mean really bad when I was a kid. But alas, due to the success of Axis and Allies, it was not reproduced and was a good enough game (I assume) that all the boxes of it were sold up by the time I really started asking for it.

Gotta have Starcraft. I still think that game will always be the pinnacle of RTS games. Maybe even the penultimate, Brood Wars being the ultimate.

Still need to play 40k and AWF.

WoW - well, why not? Money isn't an option, and time isn't a concern, so might as well. The backstory and depth of content are amazing, I have to say. My biggest problem with the game is still the pay-to-play aspect.

I dont' know man... I've read that what you need to be good at it is time. Basically just putting in the hours will get you the levels. Sounds too much like a second job to me. Sounds kinda like me and my prediliction towards Top Gear....

AWF is some heavey lifting. It looks good; even on my equipment, but needs more.

..... and how long have you been waiting to put penultimate to use?

Which GTA though? 3, Vice City, San Andreas...

SimCity, also a good call. It made a few of the lists on the GameSpot articles.

These are some good games ... what does the FF Anthology include exactly?

And I would take tactics over guild wars, would occupy at least 3x as much time :D

And RPG maker XP? I have heard this name buzzing about my head for some time. What is it?

In Japan, FF:A was 4, 5, and 6. Basically, all of the SNES games, with new FMVs on par with FF8. This would have been badass for a US release, as FF5 never came out in the States. Alas, the US FF:A only had FF4 and FF6 - aka 2 and 3 for the SNES.

RPG Maker is an amazing tool for making 8/16 bit style console RPGs. The latest incarnation, RPGM XP, supports the Ruby scripting language, allowing much badass-ness to be coded. Check it here.

A couple other Honorable honorable mentions... Suikoden, Vandal Hearts, and Neverwinter Nights.
