If you could invent one thing and make it a reality, what would it be? Why?

I'm contemplating whether that would be a time machine or some sort of teleporting device. As a History student, the opportunity to return to different periods in time and experience what happened for myself-that's the kind of research no library will offer. I wouldn't change anything, because as we all know from sci-fi shows, if you try and alter time, it'll mess up the modern world. Chaos will ensue, all because you swatted a wasp. Theoretically. On the other hand, a teleportation device would allow me to visit all my online friends, and bring my luggage very quickly and without fuss from customs at the airport. Cheaper, too. They're both enthralling.

What would you do if you were invisible for 24 hours?

Okay, I've thought this through, and I have concluded that I would use it to create the illusion of a poltergeist at my college library. Moving books, chairs, people, when nobody's looking. Flicking the lightswitch on and off. And then, for those students that I like, I'd actually help them by throwing snow at Draco Malfoy.
( Wait, who ? )

Do you think Heath Ledger deserves the Oscar for his role in the Dark Knight?

It has been seriously rumoured that Ledger would receive a post-humous Academy Award. It would be a tragic success were this to happen.. Heath was a young actor, and to secure an Oscar relatively early in his career would have been an utter triumph, and would further no doubt have furthered his career. I think he deserves the Oscar because of his interpretation of the Joker, which, while resembling neither Jack Nicholson's portrayal or any of the numerous TV series, was superb. However, it'll be a pity he won't have the chance to win another, or to even accept it. To hear all of Hollywood, nay, the world, raving about his acting.. Surely that was his dream.

Where do you spend most of your time on the web?

If I'm not on MSN, I'm on LJ. If I'm not on LJ, I'm writing an e-mail. If I'm not writing an e-mail, I'm checking Tales Forums. I think LJ would probably be my favourite website at the moment, as I like writing interesting pieces for my friends. Plus, I like getting an insight into their lives as well.

Hm. There aren't many other Writer's Block prompts I'd like to tackle. The TV and music questions aren't too original. I've done the love thing. The summer memories suggestion is, however, inspiring. In the future, I must write down some of my favourite memories. Just random events I can recall. Heck, let's be impulsive and do one now! Yes? YESH!

As I write this, I am filtering the filing cabinets of my mind in order to locate a funny anecdote. I'll check the weighty "School" folder.

Okay, this happened in 5th Class, which puts me at about 11 years old. I had just received my Pokémon Trainer's License the year before, and had now halted my adventure in order to continue my education. Little did I know that Nintendo were quickly breeding hordes of Pokémon to make my journey to "Catch 'em all" that much more difficult. Anyhow.

Let me tell you about one of the best things in my elementary school life-The Setanta Book Club!
I thought the company was now defunct, but apparently not . http://www.setantabookclubs.ie/ It looks like the school just stopped ordering the leaflets. It worked like this: every two months, we'd get a catalogue of books to choose from. Then we'd tick off the books we'd like to buy and hand the form and money to the teacher. They'd send it away, and in about two weeks, a big box of books would arrive. Oh, the excitement when I saw the white and blue package waiting behind the teacher's desk! I kept hoping throughout the day that she/he'd break it open, and we could feast on the literary goodness inside!

I was a fan of books and reading from a very early age. My parents would read me Thomas the Tank Engine ( children's show ) books before I went to bed, and I collected them all. The more I heard the story and the more time I spent looking at the pages while listening, the greater my reading skills became. This was all before I began elementary school, but when I did, I already had a grasp of the concept of letters, words and reading, not to mention a passion for it. It's due to my parents that I enjoy reading so much today, and have been able to write my own work. But that's sufficient background.

Most of the books I ordered from Setanta Book Club in the three and a half years the catalogues were given out were Pokémon titles. The Tracey West series. They were short books, but I've read them a fair few times. The teacher would also choose books to add to the school library-fun titles which held that innocent, childhood magic, as opposed to the heavy historical tomes and literature which I read for school at present. The star title on this particular, 5th Class occasion?
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Some children had ordered their own copy, but I had decided to buy it from a regular store, later on. It was the day before Easter Holidays ( Spring Break, you could say ) and the teacher held up a copy of the Goblet which she had ordered for the school library.
"Who wants to take this home for the holidays?"

I accepted her challenge, and rose to the occasion! Sadly, three other kids wanted to do so too. ( appox. 3 ) I slapped their faces with my duelling glove, and wondered how 1 copy of Harry Potter would be split between us. In retrospect, a Battle Royale scenario would have also been fun/fair, but like I suspected, we were asked to choose a number between 1 and 10, and whoever got the number she picked had to retire from the race.
4...3...2.

I don't know how I survived this long, but only myself and my friend Kevin remained. We took turns choosing until, unfortunately, Kevin was vanquished. Victory! In retrospect, perhaps I should have felt some sympathy for him, and offered it to him instead. Perhaps he wanted it more than I did.
But on the other hand, I won fair and square, and it was MINE, ALL MINE! BWAHA!

I spent that Easter with my nose buried in the hardcover book, and it still remains my favourite of the Harry Potter series.

Well, that's all for now. If you'd like to hear me reminisce some more, just choose an age and I'll tell you a story from that year.
Oh, and finally, I watched two more episodes of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya last night, bringing me up to 5 episodes. That's such a cool anime. Fun, sexy, smart and with a great plot/characters. It's why I've got a Suzumiya icon today, both on MSN and LJ.
