less than SEVEN HOURS til HP7, pt. 2!!! SQUEEEE!!!!!
First off, i'll say that i have been an HP fan since long before the movies came out. i went to the 1st movie hopeful(that they wouldn't fuck it up), and came away slightly disappointed. then, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.1...and i was terribly saddened by the directors' inability to stay true to the power and emotion the books evoked. not to mention the lack of wizarding robes, and the wholecloth-made up landscape(the footbridge to nowhere, the weird-ass pendulum in the entryway, the suddenly hilly terrain, and wtf happened with the burrow?). so, it was with a heavy heart that i went last nite to see the last(again) great chapter in an epic novel and somewhat lacking movie series.
FINALLY, they decided to follow more closely to the book. Snape(who has always been my fave) was perfectly shown. Rickman(rowr!) gave a heartbreaking performance worthy of both himself, and the tragic Potions' Master. and, in showing the impetus behind Snape's actions through all the years, he was, at last, exonerated-even in Harry's eyes(and this entire segment will have you in tears).
all other performances were excellent. and many characters were(as in the book) given their due. Neville, in particular, was allowed to shine. Maggie Smith was utterly inspiring, her actions making me gasp in shock, then squee with delight. a short cameo of Gary Oldman brought me to tears once again. as did the rush of freedom felt by the dragon of Gringott's.
overall, this was a splendidly well-done ending to my fave book series. =^.^=
