Ah, finally.
I can crack my knuckles...twiddle my fingers above the keyboard and type what ME....MYSELF....I thought about this novel. Here we go!!!
I didn't think Into The Wild was such a bad book, and niether was The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. Let's not even get into Antigone. But of all the novels we've read in this class (because, you know, we've read soooo many) I would have to say that this was my favorite. Yes, I will admit, the fact that none of the stories were true in this book did cause me to look at the book in a different way, but it didn't make the book any less good. I thought that even though the stories and "rememberences" that O'Brien had lacked truth, they were essential in getting his point out to his readers. I can't say that this is a book that I would read again, but I would recommend it to my friends and peers, and maybe even to the freshman who are going to be in Honors English next year.
This book was a definate worth while read and I really did enjoy reading it. A fine choice, Ms. Ptak. Bravo!!!
