Arson Coda
Turns out we have the Best Landlord Ever.
Seriously.
muphinmadness and I went to university at 0830 and got back around 1600. In that time, our landlord dropped by, checked out the damage, sealed up all the cracks in that hallway door with some kind of indestructible polly-filler, and bricked up the outside of the door.
So, not only is no smoke EVER GETTING IN AGAIN, anyone who tries to bang on the door will BREAK THEIR HAND. HA. In fact, I think that bricked up door is now the sturdiest part of the wall. It makes a much more solid 'thunk' sound than the rest of the wall.
Of course, in bricking up the door before the police could check things out, the landlord pretty much eliminated every scrap of evidence. But the police still took a statement and apparently believed us implicitly (the air still STINKING of smoke probably helped with that) and have filed it as a crime of arson, which they're investigating.
Which is pretty cool.
We got an official crime case number, too.
And we're definitely getting our landlord a Christmas present. NO MORE FIRE. \o/
