AFTERNOON HEAT
It’s 3:00 pm and it’s scorching hot in our house. All the electric fans are working and in full power. Really… Summer is getting into my nerves and it’s not good… I so want to go to the beach.
My post is not really because of Summer and all… It just feels so darn hot that’s why I entered it here. Anyways, I’ve been listening to a whole lot of love songs lately and it’s been totally crazy. Even my J-Pop music has turned a bit mushy due to Yuna Ito and Utada Hikaru blaring at my headphones.
I was rummaging through a pile of cassette tapes that I had stacked in my cabinet and I found this album with bright orange and green cover. The album’s title was Weekend Love and a smile crossed my face as I popped it in my boom box. I bought this cassette tape when I still did not have money to buy original CD’s and that the only thing that our radio in the apartment in college could play were cassette tapes (and of course we prayed hard that our dear tapes won't get eaten). This album was on sale at Odyssey in Robinsons Los Baños and while checking the list of songs I decided to buy it since at that time I was obviously in love. The first song in the list is It’s a Crazy Feeling… Love Is; sung by a certain Patrice Gayle Dizon (whom I never even once heard). The beat was nice and the girl singing had this teeny bop voice, maybe just like a normal High School girl singing a song to her crush. The song struck me when I read the lyrics in the song sheet that was included in the cassette. It was nostalgic to read and hear what I was feeling this time and I had the tape rewinded a couple of times just to listen to it again. It may be a little cheesy and childish but I thought it was kinda cute.
