So, I had previously thought that nearly all of my sleep paralysis episodes woke me, but I just realized a few hours ago that I had one last night. Something on TV reminded me of the dream I had been having before the episode began.
What I remember about the episode is that I felt someone pulling me off the bed by my feet, and I couldn't move. I was terrified, but then almost immediately, I had the feeling that it had happened before, and then realized it was sleep paralysis. I then went back to sleep.
Looking back through my entries, I found that it was very similar to part of
this sleep paralysis episode, thus why it felt familiar.
I now wonder how often this happens, and I never remember the episode at all. If it's short enough, I could fall back to sleep and forget it. I can't imagine going back to sleep or forgetting anything lasting longer than a few seconds, though. The level of terror involved in sleep paralysis is just too profound to brush off unless it's the equivalent of being startled, thus very short.
