That bottle of corn, that rockin' cane

Have any of you tried this year's Full Sail Wassail? I know it's early in the season, but there's nothing wrong with gettin' your winter ale on as soon as the stuff hits the shelves, am I right? Right. So, the wassail's pretty damned tasty: dark, luscious, spicy, and really, really robust in a vaguely resinous way. I think it could definitely count as a first or second course unto itself.

OR you could turn it into dinner! I made the best fucking carbonnade with a beef short ribs and a bottle of that stuff last week. I messed around with this recipe but that ale's powerful stuff, so I cut the beer with the rest of our chicken stock. Oh, and it was nice.

But now we're clean out of stock. I may just roast some chicken thighs for dinner tonight and prepare a mess of greens. Maybe poach a chicken later in the week and make some stock.

I finally finished reading The Tin Drum and I may write a little about that later. I don't know why it took me so goddamned long to read the thing since it wasn't the most impenetrable thing I've ever had to read. I also recently finished off Fun Home, which turned out to be the loveliest thing I'd read all year. Jesus, what a storyteller.

I've just started Mary Gaitskill's Veronica. What are you people reading?
