I'm going to be good this year. I'm going to purchase all of the non-perishable ingredients I need for my annual Festival of the Thanksgiving Sides in advance, not the day before the event. I need a few vanilla pods, a bottle of Cointreau, cranberries, turbinado sugar (trust me, it works), canned pumpkin, some damned mochiko, a few bottles of dry cider, and some brandy to go with the batter. I've everything I need at home except for those ingredients.
I'm writing this here because it needs to be done, and if things are reiterated, they're more likely to get done in the real world. Right? Right. I will not stand in line at the Whole Foods this year for forty-five minutes because I forgot to buy butter and pumpkin. This year I'm up to my figurative eyeballs in butter so that shouldn't be a problem.
Random tangent: Did Charlotte Perkins Gilman write a short story about a pair of little boys who loved butter or am I making that up in my head? Yeah, we're going to obssess on that for the rest of the day, I'm sure.
