Event: 4th TAGCOM Toys and Hobbies Convention (Day one)
Location: Robinson's Place Manila, Midtown Atrium
Went as: Nozomu Itoshiki from Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
Status: ...ZETSUBOUSHITA!~
This was my first convention of the year, and I haven't cosplayed (not outside of school, anyway) for months so I was looking forward for my debut-ing of Zetsubou-sensei, sans the equally neurotic schoolgirls (which, I have to admit, I should bring along the next time I do this character, ahahaha). Ahem... Anyway, I heard that the cosplay competition for TAGCOM was on Day 2, but since I couldn't attend on Day 2 (since I have far more important things to do like studying for my two major exams next week), I decided to go to Day 1 instead, with or without cosplayers present... Just to enjoy myself before the university starts shoving crap down my mouth.
So when I got there, the convention just opened, and there was a glaring lack of cosplayers. I can count a couple vocaloids and some rozen maidens hanging around... But nothing substantial... So I figured I'd wait for more of them to arrive before I change. So I hung around a bookstore reading yaoi vampire knight manga, then I had lunch at a chinese restaurant, before going to the nearest bathroom to change. The problem is, they decided to lock all the spare cubicles for some sick, twisted reason... So it took quite a bit before I got changed.
...And so it seemed that my camera is acting up. I don't know what its problem is, but whenever I take a picture, horizontal lines appear on the display. So it would seem that taking pictures is a bit out of the question. But I didn't let that stop me.
So I went around, bumped into a few friends, and purchased some merchandise. Most notably a pin with Nozomu's face on it and the word "ZETSUBOUSHITA!", which I found cute and fitting. I so wanted to buy a figma, or at least a nendroid, but I didn't have the cash to spare. Some of the nendroids were upwards of Php300, while the figmas were a staggering Php1500 (that's a week and a half's allowance already!). Anyway, I was a tad surprised at the amount of photo ops I got, considering most people don't watch Sayonara Zatsubou Sensei. It was amusing... Haha. But when I do see someone who knows the series who's aiming their camera at me, I do the despair pose. ahahaha.
Yeah, so over-all, I had fun. Next convention will be in exactly 31 days, the 3rd Philippine Cosplay Convention!
