The rains have really come

The first few days of May always bring about the same sight: rain. Which would be a welcome reprieve from the scorching April heat, and a foreshadow of the coming downpours of the monsoon and typhoon seasons. Yes, dear friend, now is the time of dark skies, flooded streets, picky cabs, and more complications to the usual commute.

Right now it seems that the world is out to make fun of me in every single way possible. Like this morning, my professor said we should hurry up and catch up with the Laboratory lessons for Math 101 in time for the midterms (which, as it happened, was later in the day). So he had to postpone the lecture exam until Monday (which as it happened, is the same day as my Math 75 exams). Now I have three exams next week. All on the same day. Good thing I passed the first three exams the department has dished out so far.

I went to the department store to buy an umbrella because I knew the weather won't be clearing up anytime soon, with a typhoon signal raised over the capital. I picked the cheapest one I can find: 149.75Php, and proceeded to make use of my time to eat. I ate a chicken and apple pie at McDonald's, after which I decided to get myself a tekken 6 fix. During the second stage, when I was about to beat Heihachi into a pulp, some random guy does the usual challenge-insert datacard thing and dished out Alisa. I made it to the final round sue to either pity or luck (or a strange combination of both). But still, I lost. Damn, they wouldn't let me practice!

Went back to get the Math 101 midterms over with. I assumed the three stat teachers wrote it, so I figured it would be a piece of cake. It wasn't. It turned out that someone else wrote it, and filled it with mindnumbing and hell-raising questions. It made my head hurt... Seriously. I thought it was either going to explode or bleed internally.

We finished the second part of Math 75 today. That makes the second third consist of indeterminate forms, L'Hopital's Rule, Improper Integrals, Sequences, and infinite series. I was going to solve one of the problems using one of the techniques given in class, only to find it to be a futile attempt because the results would lead to be inconclusive, until my professor would just randomly blurt out a hint which would make me feel silly for not having enough foresight to see it coming. Repeat five times and that's a pretty close approximation of what happened.

I walked to the bus stop in the rain and occassionally wading in the floodwaters of manila. I waited and waited for a bus, busted the newly-bought umbrella in the process (through a combination of sheer frustration and substandard manufacturing), but it never came. I tried to hail a cab, but they refuse to go through Buendia (which they claim was heavily flooded at the time), and so I had no other choice than to take the train home. If it was any consolation, the train was almost empty. XD

...If there's anything I hate about rainy days, it's the fact that there's no sunshine.

math, upism, ranting, inconvenient
