La Trattoria Bohemia

Occasionally, if it's really slow on a Friday, my boss will let one of us late shift people leave early. We take turns; yesterday was mine. Since I got home when most stores weren't going to be closing in half an hour, we ran up to Cost Plus and picked up some stuff (we ended up going back today for new chair cushions for the barstools as well as some glasses and candles). We were both getting hungry, and telesilla remembered seeing a place called La Trattoria Bohemia on J Street, so we decided to check it out.

It turned out to be a great choice. The idea of combining Czech and Italian sounds a little weird, but the food was excellent. We both had the same thing, so it's not a great sampling, but the special had the three magic food words: "salmon", "dill", and "asparagus". In a cream sauce with fresh linguini and tomatos, it was foodgasmic. We didn't have wine, although they had a good wine list; instead we both had iced tea that came in funky bottles from Republic of Tea. For dessert, we split the ricotta cheescake. The service was good and the people-watching was as well. It's a little pricey, so it's definitely something to do when we're splurging, but it was money well-spent.
