On opening up an old frame, my heart almost stopped from the surprise of seeing these intense eyes staring up at me from behind the backing of an old print:

Someone long ago had given up hand coloring this image and inserted it face down between the existing image and the frame back. It hasn't seen the light of day for at least 100 years.
