World Resonance Scene of the Day

Mar 30, 2011 19:14

At 189,602 words today. Almost did 900. The aftermath of the Bill Cain argument. I'm feeling kind of lazy today, but I'm glad that I almost hit 900 words today. Hopefully tomorrow I can get more done as one of my planned scenes is coming up.

Let Sleeping Cains Lie
This was sort of a planned scene if you count planning it the day to the day before you were going to sit down and write it.

Bill answered the door when she knocked. “Good morning,” he greeted softly.

Sarah smiled. “I was just wondering if you guys were ready for breakfast.”

Her guardian beckoned for her to enter, putting a finger to his lips. Curious, Sarah followed him in. She grinned. Sitting in an armchair at the back of the room fast asleep was Cain. She had to stifle a giggle at the sight of him. He just looked so cute.

“He had terrible dreams again most of the night,” Bill informed her in a low voice. “We should let him sleep for now.”

Sarah nodded, frowning.

“Hopefully once we get rid of the Cruinne he will be okay again,” Bill added as if trying to comfort her. “He’s been sleeping peacefully for a couple hours now.”

Still Sleeping

Cain was still out cold in the chair. They all agreed to talk quietly and stayed closer to the front of the room away from the former knight.

It didn’t take long for the food to arrive. After dividing it up, Sarah took a tray over to a table near Cain’s chair and set it down there, studying his face before joining the others at the front of the room. He was still resting peacefully, though he would probably kill them for not waking him up.

Plans and Aftermath

“Any plans for how to take out this Cruinne?” Bill asked the group softly. “Cain seems to think this one is going to be much tougher than the past ones.”

“I think we need more information before we can plan anything,” Sarah replied, frowning. “After we talk with this Inle-whatever we should have enough to at least start a plan.”

“Inledair,” a deep voice spoke from behind them, a slight trace of humor in its tone.

The former barmaid looked over her shoulder to see Cain studying them with a frown. “Did we wake you?” Sarah asked him softly.

He shook his head, running his hand over his face. “You should have, though. We need to meet with the Inledair as soon as possible.”

“After breakfast, we will,” Bill replied, meeting his eye.

Cain returned his gaze, his expression growing icy. “Fine.”

Sarah frowned. Had the two of them fought last night? She hoped Bill hadn’t given Cain too hard of a time. It’s not like anything bad had happened.

The former knight leaned back in his chair and looked like he was about to slip back to sleep when he noticed the tray on the table. His eye flicked to Sarah knowingly, the icy expression on his face warming some. He slid the plate of eggs and sausage off the tray and began eating them.
