Heard from Adam tonight for the first time in a while. Last time was when he made a dummy account on facebook and attempted to engage me in conversation until I figured out who it really was and blocked him. Tonight I got my first death threat, hooray! It read simply:
"I'll be sure to kill you in my lifetime."
I know I talk about my cyberstalker rather light-heartedly, but he does actually worry me. He doesn't know where I live as far as I know (he shouldn't even know I moved to Portland), but I'm sure he could find out relatively easily if he tried. Yeah, in the past he's harassed me and said bad things about me, but a death threat is kind of taking it to the next level. Most likely he's just trying to scare me, but... the man's not completely stable, either.
I looked around online and the general consensus is that if someone threatens you with death online and you're actually worried you should contact your local police department, but that seems like overreacting. Yes, it frightens me a little bit, but he doesn't know where I live. He probably doesn't really care and is just doing it to get a reaction. Any attention's better than none, right? If I contacted the police I could probably get a restraining order, but is that really necessary?
I don't want to go to my dad with this because, well, he'd probably track him down and shoot him or something. Not really, but I don't want to worry him. I wish there were better resources for figuring out what to do in this situation. :/ I kind of want to post something on facebook (because that's probably the first place he'd go to try and figure out my location) that says "DEAR FRIENDS: If anyone named Adam Roan (or anyone else for that matter) asks you for ANY of my contact information, don't give it to him under any circumstances. Plzkthx." But that's awfully melodramatic.
