A Christmas Wish

Everyone who has a heart to see
A chistmas wish from me
I wish for you to be happy
I wish for you to know joy
I wish for you to know every good thing
That a full life can bring
But I wish for you something more...
But for myself I need no gift
No stockings filled
No presents under a lighted tree
For a while now I have had a gift
A gift that came not from a store
Not anything of material want
But in another person, a friend
But something even more
Someone who knows me better than I know myself
Someone who knows when my heartaches
And whom I know when their heart breaks
And I cannot feel saddness
For they always get me to smile
And they can never feel homesick
When I walk beside them always
Lovers can walk in and out of our lives
But they cannot break us
To walk through the world is hard
But I know I don't walk alone
No matter how far apart,
Neither of us walk alone
My wish is that everyone
Could know such a person
For no man is a failure that has friends
And a person who has just one,
One true friend, a best friend of all
A sister in many aspects
Needs nothing else on this earth.
