Went to see My Bloody Valentine at the Apollo last night with
lukecore. Pretty amazing stuff. The setlist was mostly drawn from Loveless, with a few of the non-vocal-led tracks from Isn't Anything. What surprised me, though, was that they managed to fill the Apollo two nights running. I didn't think they were that popular.
That was one of the loudest gigs I've ever been to. Free earplugs all round. They finished by turning everything up to max and making pure noise until curfew: over half an hour, sounding roughly like a jet engine. They were still going when we left; when a bus passed, I briefly mistook the change in sound for them warming up to play another song. We could still hear the band fairly clearly on Upper Brook Street, half a mile away.
Why is mathematics so bleeding difficult?
