The Legion will come for them eventually, but I figure I have a few centuries. It isn't like I'll die.

I don't really need sleep or shelter. I could go a long time without going through a door, especially if I avoid them on purpose. [Bitter:] They have normal food and everything is clean. No one will ambush me with a device I've never heard of and call me an idiot for not being prepared for it. They're all human - and the regular, sane kind, not the kind that's gone stir-crazy from being trapped in a flying metal box. And there are no floods. I can keep my own mind. Whole. Forever.
[He smiles. It's very faint.]
I grew up somewhere like this. I know how to get anything I want here. No one knows who I am. No one can remind me or hate me for it. And when the Legion does come for them - if I stay - they might have a chance of fighting them off.
Why shouldn't I stay right here?
