I Hate Croydon! (personal rant)
OK, so this is a rant... officially
I so hate the area we live in, constantly I get people making sarcastic comments about my shoes (platforms) or my trousers (flares), but tonights little ordeal really takes the biscuit!
Normally, I get the train home with my husband, but he is doing someputing course on wednesday evenings at the moment, so normally I get a cab from the train station. Tonight, we needed milk so I had to go via the shop which meant bus. I am walking up to the bus stop by the train station (carrying 5 bags, so not in the best of moods) when this guy asks me for a cigarette, so I say no, buy them yourself and carry on walking. next thing I can hear him saying he is going to smack my head in?!?! So I say 'Oooooh big man, so hard and scary, he's gonna smack a girl'. Thinking this is the end of it I walk on to my bus stop. Bus pulls up, I'm just about to get on it, next thing I know, this guy has spat all over the back of my head. of course, everyone on the bus is looking at me and must be thinking I started it (judging on the way i look as usual)
This just makes me so cross, I hate living in a shallow minded society full of idiots like this guy and people who judge on appearances. Everywhere I live in the UK it's the same - people who will put you down, take the piss out of you, threaten you etc etc just because you choose not to conform to society's ideal standards. It is predujice, exactally the same as racism, sexism or any other form you can think of. Can I call the police, support lines etc etc...?? NO, because I choose to look different, therefore I apparantly 'bring it on myself' by looking the way I do. (My father-in-law, who is a policeman has said this himself, though in a nicer way!)
Anyway, I guess what I am saying is the world has gone to shit.....so dare to be different, stand up for yourself and don't let the bastards get you down!
