How many people are you betting have that as a title to a journal entry right now? Ha!
If I have one piece of advice for everyone, it's to go and see Snakes on a Plane. And don't wait, you wanna see this with an audience because I swear it'll be the funnest film you'll see at the cinema this year. It's just one of those films that is so ridiculously bad that it's incredibly awesome. It lives up to the hype, no doubt. I'm so glad they went back and did the five day reshoots to add more abusive language and gore 'cause I really couldn't imagine this film without it. I mean... snake on a tit! snake on a dick! snake in an eye! Seriously, as funny as hell. The girl who was clearly playing a Paris Hilton charicature amused me, is it wrong that I wanted her to die from the beginning? I can't believe they got away with calling the dog Mary-Kate. Bwah! Julianna Margulies <3 (I miss Carol *sniff*) Samuel L. Jackson is obviously one cool motherfucker. I think the audience made this for me though, the best audience I've been with and only the midnight screening of Harry Potter came close to the atmosphere. The people tore it up. In fact it got two rounds of applause, one during the now well known catchphrase and again after it had finished. w00t. For big dumb fun, check this out.
For something compeltely different I'd suggest A Scanner Darkly which I went to see on friday. It's definately not for everyone, it's very visceral and I'm sure a lot of people will be turned off by the roto-scoping animation style. However it's well worth checking out. It's a very poignant look on drugs and how it destroys lives but I never felt that it was being preachy. Keanu Reeves was well... how is he always? A bit bland. It kind of fits for the burned out character he plays though. Winona Ryder as Donna did a cool job and is pretty nice as a comeback flick for her, just ashame that not many people are going to see it. There are some good laughs in this flick but when you realise that they're at the expense of these drug addled minds it makes you think. I really appreciated that Linklater left PKD's dedication at the end of the film, it was a nice sentiment.
