Dean was sitting at the desk of the motel he, Sam and Joanna were staying at. Joanna found a school to go to (for the time being) and they were finishing up a job. Sam was becoming friendly with one of the local priests who had contacted them in the first place. Joanna was lying on the floor with homework laid out in front of her, while Dean worked on research. He looked up at Joanna after becoming bored with the geek thing, and stared at her for a moment, lost in thought.
He was brought out of his daze by a knock on the door and with a groan Dean stood up, stepping over Joanna and opening the door.
Dean frowned as some skinny kid with a hair cut like Sam’s stood in front of him, looking far too cool to care about where he was. Dean gave him a once over, resisting the urge to just kick the kid out now.
“Can I help you?” he asked, crossing his arms over his chest. From behind him, Joanna looked up.
“Yo, dude, is Jo here?” asked the kid, tossing his bangs out of his eyes. Dean opened his mouth to tell the kid off, but was interrupted by Joanna at his shoulder.
“Hi, Jeremy,” said Joanna, and Dean swore he saw her blush.
“Hey, girl.”
“Dude,” said Dean, catching this Jeremy kid off guard. “I’m pretty sure you wanna leave.”
“Look, chill out, pops-” Dean snapped, one hand reaching out to grab the front of Jeremy’s shirt, turning him around and slamming him against the wall next to them.
“Don’t call me pop you little punk,” hissed Dean. In the doorway Joanna crossed her arms over her chest and glared at her father. Jeremy stared in terror at Dean, his jaw trembling slightly as he gave a reply.
“Y-yes, sir,” he stammered. Dean dropped him back to the ground and walked back inside the motel room, slamming the door shut behind him and turned to Joanna.
“You’re not friends with that kid are you?”
“He was taking me out, dad,” said Joanna, glaring at her father as he walked back to his desk. He snorted.
“Like a school thing?”
“No, like a date,” Dean’s head shot up, his jaw clenching.
“You’re not allowed to date,” Joanna scoffed at him and stuck her hands on her hips.
“Like hell I’m not,” she said loudly. “You never said I couldn’t.”
“Well, I’m sayin’ it now,” said Dean standing back up and grabbing his coat off the back of his chair. “You’re forbidden to date anyone.”
“Until when?!”
“Until Sam and I die,” Dean snapped back at her.
“That’s so unfair,” whispered Joanna, staring at Dean’s back with a mixture of hurt and defiance.
“Life’s unfair,” Dean growled and jerked open the door, pulling an unsuspecting Sam in as well, his hand still on the door handle. He flashed Dean an grin and then registered the look on his face.
“What’s up?” he asked, looking from his brother over to Joanna, who had the same look on her face. Dean shook his head and pushed past Sam who frowned and stared after him. “Where are you goin’?”
“The bar.”
“Oo, shocker, probably to grab date,” said Joanna under her breath, rolling her eyes as Sam gave her the same look as he gave Dean.
“What happened?”
“Dad scared off my date and I’ve been forbidden to socialize,” she said and turned on her heel, heading for the bathroom and slamming the door behind her, leaving Sam standing by himself.
“Of course you’re not allowed to date,” Sam shouted after her, flinching after hearing the door slam shut. “You live with me and Dean. You’re lucky he didn’t shoot the guy.”
