What If My Life Had Been Normal?

Sometimes I really wonder what my life would've been like if I'd grown up normal. Gone to the same high school for four years, graduated with friends I've had since grade school, had a mom and dad that stayed married and were good semi-wealthy people, lived in the same house my whole life and everything like that. There really is no "Normal American Society." I think growing up through tough times is better than growing up like one of those kids whose willing to pay expensive prices for such things that have little value. Think of it this way, when you get older and hit a rough time, you'll be able to face it more than someone who has had the world at their feet their whole life. They will always end up depending on someone while you have the ability to be indepent. As for having the same friends forever, I didn't realize how unhappy I was with my friends that I had had all my life until I went to ACS and met all of you. I found a group of people that I connected with on a different level then just being able to say I've known them forever. In fact, it made me see how different my old friends and I were, and in the end the friendships didn't work out. The way you grew up gave you as much knowledge as you have, would you really trade that in for having everything you wanted all the time and being as dumb as a brick? The so-called "Normal American Life" is a popularity contest the first couple decades of our lives, but much later in life no one will look at us and say "You wore expensive trendy shoes in school? Oh in that case your hired!"

I don't know if that helps at all, but cheer up, the "Normal American Life" only matters for so long, and then what are you left with?

I think you and Nick are going to be just fine

Lots of Love
