Sci Fi Film Rec: Predestination

This is truly good sci fi!

A very slick, intelligent production with Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook both simply brilliant.

Everything works in this film - the sets, lighting, direction, music, cast and, of course, the story.

Personally, I found it a very compelling movie that kept my interest throughout. They've kept to the original story and dialogue very well and have padded it out in a way that enhances rather than detracts from the original concept. I read the original story many (many, many...) years ago in an anthology while in my teens and The Spierig Brothers have turned a good, if basic, short story into something that is a well polished sci fi version of film noir.

It's good to see that quality sci fi movie making is alive and well!

If you can sort through the drek that is out there, every so often you find a gem like this.

A little background on the original story (don't worry, no spoilers):

All You Zombies was written by Robert A. Heinlein in a day (11th July 1958) and published in Fantasy and Scirence Fiction magazine in 1959 after being rejected by Playboy... and NO, it is not a zombie apocalypse story.
